Excel 2007: Download the Program

The TBS Excel Assets was designed for small businesses to keep track of their Fixed Assets, and to calculate the monthly depreciation amounts, and generate reports for the reporting of the depreciation expense.  You can try this program for 45 days to see if it will meet your needs.  You will need Microsoft Excel (versions 2000 thru 2003) for the Excel 2000 download, or version 2007 for the Excel 2007 download.  This program was designed for use by non-accountants.  At the bottom of the Monthly Depreciation Report is the Journal Entry details to record depreciation expense for the month.

Note: Only download the Excel 2007 version if you have Excel 2007.  The Excel 2000 version will work with Excel 2007.  Remember to "Enable Macros" when you open this application in Excel 2000 (in Excel 2007, click on the Options button when the Security Warning message appears, then select the "Enable this Content" option.

File sizes will be smaller in Excel 2007.

Limititations:

1) This is based on Excel.  So the limitations are those imposed by Excel.  Maximum number of rows per worksheet is 65,535 (in versions prior to Excel 2007).  A more realistic limit is probably in the 2,000 to 10,000 range (based on how long you want to spend looking for a asset.)

2) This is a fully functional timed version for you to evaluate the application (the time limit is 45 days).  (After 30 days, a nag screen will appear reminding you to register the product, after 45 days, the app will quit working until you enter a valid registration code.)

3) You should keep the number of Categories to fewer than 30.  (This is a limit based on the current coding.  If you need more than 30 categories, let me know and I can change that limit).

4) Reporting - The approach that we have taken with reports is to populate a separate worksheet with the info for that report.  You will have to then format the worksheet for printing (set some cells to wrap text, set print area, margins, etc.) before you then print that page.
